I walked up from Cattal Station, arrived Starbeck with eldest daughter who was on Teacher training day at a school in Starbeck. Then the 08.50 1 Harrogate to Knaresborough bus, 09.44 Knaresborough to York train alighting at Cattal. A cracking walk up in nice weather.(Great find Mickandkim).

Block exposed - thanks M&K. Located at the back of the verge, SW side of Ox Close lane. Large bolt, no BM. Misty day - visibility down to ~100 yds. Quiet lane, post van the only vehicle plus dog walkers, high-tech joggers and a low-tech trig bagger.

From GPS fix it's most likely in hedge (3 suitable gaps) but could be on grass verge to N or field edge to S. Half hour probing soft ground located a few stones, nothing worth digging for. Not sure hedge is 70 years old, possibly replanted. Block hopefully still there. Hedge quite tidy, minimal brambles currently. Approached from E, found cut BM on gatepost en route

Gappy hedge But is it 70 years old?

Most likely in hedge, and most likely still there but very brambly. Didn’t have much time to really search for this, and its a winter job, as off for COVID jab. We’ll be back.
