Parked on minor road at nx804614. Took the path northside of Dalbeattie Reservoir and continued walking the designated track all the way to the mast and trig point. This pillar stands proud on a rocky outcrop and commands lovely panoramic views. Flush bracket faces NNW and spider plug remains intact. A 1 hour 15min return walk.

P N end of reservoir, footpath around it, along dam & across overflow to Know Hill, down & up main track to Barskeoch Hill. Came down W to just shy of Rumbling Well, which was a bit daft, lucky to get through the gorse & hawthorne relatively unscathed, would be better to stick to the top of the ridge till much nearer the road.

Parked at farm courtesy of the farmer who was very kind. Please note the road into the farm has deteriorated very badly and is not accessible for cars of low clearance. I nearly didn't get back up with my micra due to the height difference between left- and right-hand side of the road.

Parked by signboard on road to SW of reservoir. On way up skirted the S side of the reservoir, across pasture below dam, then up through the scrub to the track and then the trig. Descended on a more direct route past the top (W) end of the reservoir.

Parked a derelict building at bottom of track to reservoir and walked up track to mast. Reservoir is drained at the moment and lots of workmen about. We met the farmer on the way back and had a long chat. He said people off road at the top near the mast hence the churned up ground and hazard tape.
