4 of 5 logs today and third trig. Good parking at NY 80203 80444 which could also be used for Watch Crags. As others used the excellent forest tracks to the trig. No real views at the trig. Once bagged I took the bridleway way back (behind the 4x concrete posts) towards the main track which was surprisingly good but didn't fully correlate with the green mark on my GPS but connected at NY 75630 80433. I recorded slightly under a 8 mile return walk. Spider missing. Still lots of Storm Arwen damage but the higher trees have been cleared and none of the tracks were obstructed that I used.

A walk out from Harelaw along the good forestry tracks and a good 7.5 miles round trip. A bit rough underfoot for the last 200 metres off track( marked as an actual track on OS maps) but easy enough. Rain started just as I arrived at Trig well hidden amongst the trees and no views to speak of. quickly donned the waterproofs for a soggy return trip.

My second visit, different route. On a day that 'Storm Alex' was forecast to drench the entire country, seemed a good idea to revisit a couple of TPs that have no views to offer. Parked at the road junction at Cowcrook Moss, just SW of Birk Hill (TP1384). Followed forestry tracks NW to Greenside then NE on the track that loops back to Pundershaw. Found the TP again without difficulty, but this does seem to be as remote a TP as you can get. Returned via the 'Skipjack' observatory on Blackaburn Lough, then E almost to Pundershaw before dropping S to Blackaburn and then picking off Birk Hill TP as secondary prize for a 3h 30m, 18.7km hike.

Parked at a layby ny801802. 13km return along a forest road. A perfect trig for a misty day as there are no views at this pillar. Trig is black. Is this lichen or has the cement reacted with the surrounding atmosphere? I have seen similar at Stonehough and the The Dodd near Black Middens. Excellent opportunity for a brisk walk. Potentially great cycle approach.

Drove as far as Pundershaw, and although the barrier gate just W of it was open I decided descretion the better part of valour and parked on the E side so I couldn't be locked in if someone decided to lock the gate once I'd set off. It was tempting to drive almost all the way to the TP as I could have done, but then part of this TP bagging exercise is, er, exercise. So we walked from Pundershaw, followed all the advice below and found the TP no problem.Just under 1h 45m there and back.

After the bonus of the first trig of the day this was back to the trog along the forest drives, unfortunately gates were locked at the very beginning, so we parked at Harelaw and followed the tracks not the bridle or foot paths. Passed one guy working in the forest on the whole 13 km walk, but at the trig we met a guy, horse and dog, guy was out for a ride in full Western riding kit. Was so busy talking to the bloke I didnt take a pic. Called at the bothy at The Green, by the visitor book it's well used. Gets a 6 because of the horse!
