Parked in Bakwell (for free up the top end of Station Road!) and headed up the very muddy, rutted footpath which cuts through the golf course. We then headed along the track and field paths, locating the trig easily. The views from the trig weren't the most exciting but the countryside around was very pleasant. Retraced our steps along to the gate, returning via the road to avoid the mud. The main thing was that it stayed dry and sunny for the entirety of the walk which was an absolute miracle given the prevailing weather conditions!

I was actually walking a marathon with some of my family and we ended up walking 27.25 miles when I visited this trig point. We had just used the wooden steps to get over the dry stone wall before heading downhill on Calton Pastures. The TP was then behind us and out of view with the way appearing blocked by a barb wire fence. We retraced our steps and in to the woods heading towards the trig point taking on brambles etc. Having got to the trig point it became apparent the barbed wire fence only covered a small area with the way not actually blocked from far easier route. The trig point, flush bracket and spider were all in good condition. If you are able to climb on top of the TP good views can be seen in all directions.

Parked a few yards down from where Bridle path starts near Rowsley end. Good exercise getting there but not too bad if you take it steady. Beware downhill mountain bikers (although they were all very polite). Plenty livestock and wildlife to observe. We actually found some skeletal remains of a lamb and found great interest in the possible causes. Nice views both East-ish and west-ish. Good condition pillar with quite calm hollow for picnic etc. if you're cheeky enough to traverse the wall (don't worry i'm no rebel it's quite stable)

I too parked in the Calton Lees car park. The attendent had gone by the time I arrived so I spent my money on some award winning ice cream instead. Pleasant walk up, through the houses, around the copse and then sharp left up through the field to the top wall and turn right. After bagging the trig I headed off the bag the HuMP.
