From SE, parked NE of the Kingdom Hall, beside works access, no works today. Soggy drizzly half mile tramp across access land, wellies a good choice. 2 inch bolt in water filled hole approx at highpoint of level tussocky summit. Great find Dusty, especially without GPS!

2/3 from Penderyn via Mynydd y Glog. Across moorland, through tangled forestry, tracks and overgrown firebreaks, not easy. Cleared out detritus to reveal bolt. Never even heard of a "concrete ring" in this context until today! Slowly filled with water as we watched.

Hard work both to get there and to reveal it. Started at Penderyn and visited Mynydd y Grog first before the fun stated. Getting through the forest was a challenge. Yes, there are footpaths marked on the map and even a stile over the fence but nothing on the ground. Fought our way onto a forest track, then anticlockwise and an overgrown firebreak back out again. Top marks to Dusty as ever for finding it initially some years ago and revealing it. In the meantime it had filled up with water and dead reeds, sludge. I had come prepared with a sponge and Gower Lad used his initiative and a plastic bag to help with the bailing process. Ideally, we should have eaten our sandwiches first given the mess we ended up in.

Normally walking from Head of the Valleys road would require wellingtons and then that might not be enough to remain dry. Today after dry spell it was easy. Reedy hill top. Found a depression with large clump of reeds in centre. Only spot I found something solid when I probed. Did not seem big enough for a block. Anyway I dug down and hit concrete. When hole enlarged I realised it was a concrete ring. Took an hour to dig out reeds and clean out centre to reveal Bolt. Left uncovered. Guess it will fill up with water!
