Interesting location. Recently joined English Heritage so combined the trip to the castle with a TP log. Easily visible on the roof although there is a sign forbidding visitors to climb on the lead roof. Good views across the harbour and to Portsdown Hill. St Mary’s church and tea shop in south east corner of the outer Bailey worth a visit.

Large bolt, approx 2 1/4" diameter on central leaded rib of Keep roof. Not sure any of the previous loggers have correctly identified it; it's certainly not the Environment Agency Bench Mark bolt a previous logger has photographed. Access is allowed to top of the Keep, on payment of £5.40 entrance fee to this English Heritage managed property, but signs warn not to go onto the leaded roof - on pain of prosecution!
