Fought thru brambles and over two barbed wire fences to reach the trig, only to discover a path reaching round the hill. Got a feeling I could’ve taken an easier route! Good vantage point and I sat a while enjoying it.

A quick morning run after the school dropoff to find the pillars at Heath Common, Walton Lane and Chevet Common. I really enjoyed finding this pillar which is a little off the beaten track. It’s in good condition and has really pleasant views from its vantage point.

A short struggle to get through the brambles and over the barbed wire fence before a short walk to the pillar. Views of the surrounding area and the pillar is in generally good condition but the original centre for the spider has been replaced with concrete or similar.

Bit of a tussle getting to this on through the Brambles and stuff including a barbed wire fence.. Plug missing and a coat of paint would help all in all nice find. Missed the gate on the cross roads on the way in found it the way out Very busy roads.

Trig in good condition could do with a new paint job . Can be seen from the roadside if you know where to look but can be a bit of a challenge to get to it over barbed wire fencing and short wooded area. Parking also a bit of a nightmare

Spot this from the A road after an unscheduled visit to the wonderful Sandal Castle (nice café too). Bit of dodgy parking then followed the field edge. Only realised the house and cctv was so near on the way back - but no sign of life.

From gate at road junction but involved crossing a locked gate and a barbed wire fence. There is good parking not far along the B6132 running north from the junction.

Visited during bike ride from boat tied at Stanley Ferry. Heath Common then along Barnsley Canal to Anglers Country Park. From cross roads over gate and across recently cropped field to fence which I followed nearly to cross fence. Low bit of wire easily crossed then doubled back to pillar. Now on to Sandal Castle.

Went up through gate off Common Lane just before B6132 road junction. headed up to top left of field where there is a 2nd gate,this will take you to flush brkt side of trig.Horse's in field today so stayed on crop field side of fence which can be accessed from same gate over a sturdy wooden laddered part of fencing bit of barbed wire but not a problem.

Up a bank patrolled by horses who were not present today. Pillar looked like it had been tended to in the not too distant past as it was quite white and easily spotted from the road from a distance. Concrete cap.

There is just enough room to park a car on the western side of the road just north of the crossroads. From there, it is a case of negotiating various ditches and fences to reach the Trig. Remains of white paint. Felt very trespassy, so did not really hang around to take in the views.

Last of 5 trigs on a day of walking. Could have accessed it I suppose from the track N off Chevet Lane but went through gate at 340 160 and cut accross the fields. Trig stands well and has ok views to the W, so much so I had a cuppa and a sarny.

In view from road at top of steep hill side. I was walking up from by crossroads when the farmer came round the corner in the next field with driving tractor and roller. Mimed my intentions above the engine noise and was waved a permission.

I parked at road junction (Chevet Gates on map). Thru' (over) gate into field. Walk along hedge on left until large gap in fence to right seen at SE34729 16061. Thru' gap and up banking to trig on N side of fence. No fences to climb this way.

Not the easiest of access but quite visible. I came up to it from Common Lane to the north. First having to negotiate a bramble patch and then straddle over two barbed wire fences. Once into the first field the pillar can be seen on the hillside ahead. Pillar in reasonably good condition and has some extensive views to the north.

Good bag! Bit tricky, nosy bloke at house and then bloke at golf range ticked us off. I would approach via big field at top of ridge top side of hedgerow, but barbed wire to cross (long legs needed). Nice view, West Yorkshire opening up to the eye. Trig in good nick, a sentinel on the ridge.

From South on road to west of trig, parked just b4 LH bend. Through trees over 2 fences(bit dodgy)and field. Trig slightly to right just below skyline.( Not easy to see from far in the dark )

Direct climb up from NE with car parked on straight bit of road half on the verge. The two barbed wire fences were a challange as my normal style of jumping would havbe exualled a new sprain. again reasonable but not stunning view

Started initially from Sandal & Agbrigg Railway Station following the road to reach Common Lane(OS Map Exp 278) Approached fairly directly from the road through the 'bush' - trees, nettles, brambles etc a little west of where the map says 'Elms' which was a bit of a struggle, once through it was easy enough to reach the trig, the barbed wire fence is wide enough to squeeze through for the average trigger. However, further travels reveal that at the junction of Common Lane & Chevet Lane (same map) there is open access and just tramp diagonally to the left heading up the hill to reach the fence and trig (don't know where you'd park).

Couldn't get closer than 450 feet away, and not sure if there's a footpath to it or not. I may go back for another go but it was getting dark so took a couple of photos at long range and left for home.

Yes it's there on the hillside clearly visible on the left on the lane from Walton to Newmillerdam. Could not approach to log OS number as on private land, fenced off with no public rights of way to get there etc
