Thanks again to TrigJS for the OS Archive research, using the OS sketch it was straight forward to find the block... once my companion had pointed out I wasn't measuring from the correct gate post...doh! Fairly narrow grass verge with parking opp side of road a little to the E. Block was found ~6" down; turf replaced after photographing.

Couldn't find it. Another one to add to my list of trig points that I need to go back to with some tools and try to find it again. Revisit 28 December 2018 at 1104 - Previously I had been at the National Archives in Kew doing some other research and I took the opportunity to also source the original OS file for this trig point including station diagram (see photo). Found the block relatively easily using an offset measurment from the stump of the oak tree in the station diagram. Block buried about 20 cm down next to the edge of the road.
