Drive by. Salisbury Plain firing notices recorded message on 01980 674763. Seems to change on a Thurs or Fri and gives details of access times for all ranges.

Easter Monday outing to Salisbury plain. No red flags flying so able to drive the byways with ease. Everything in good order here.

Popular - three visitors in less than a week. Parked near The Bustard Inn and walked up. Very pleasant if somewhat damp. Condition as reported by others.

Interesting. Clearly a hotine model trig with FB and spider, but slightly smaller with thinner wire loops, plastic centre tube (open), and tubes also to s/holes. Vgc overall, and interesting observation posts adjacent, but otherwise views rather obscured by trees.

Ranges all open over Christmas period so able to drive to the trig. Located just about on a 138m spot height, on S side of an impact area boundary. Pillar in good condition, although seems to be a little slimmer than the usual Hotine. Cap missing, no plug; all sight holes open with white plastic tubing slightly protruding from all of them. Wire loops are from very thin gauge metal and no indents. Some good views across the Plain, but not outstanding. A re-completion of the Wilts trigs.

Visited following a report on bm.org.uk by "Vince Proto" (also reported here in 2007 http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/524913). No cap or plug; top loops made of unusually thin gauge wire, same as for 10393 Bustard North-east. FB 10193 was originally a wall bracket at Tempsford Church End (http://www.bench-marks.org.uk/bm18772) but it was later returned to the OS for re-use. It's on Rod Sladen's list of potential 'little bustards' (http://www.bench-marks.org.uk/bm12406) - of which 10071, 10390, 11180, and 11307 from the original batch of six remain unaccounted for. NB S1949 the FB supposed to be on the Bustard trig pillar has also never been found
