Parked at end of yellow road,then quick dash along track ,then right onto ridge.Great views,last of 6 today.

Nice area. From the NE, easy ascent along undulating ridge of sheep grazed grass. Good views in rapidly fading daylight.

Walked up from boughrood on a circular walk lots of footpaths in the area are non existent or overgrown ,but once on the common it was easy going. Also left 2 painted stones to continue their journeys.

Visit after trip to church for BM. really narrow track up to top, pulled in just after cattle grid on left as ground evens out, common land and a vast array of walking routes all around. Walked up track on right and then across ridge with the little ups and downs to the trig. Trig painted white FB too! Spider, and cap in place with one sight hole open.

1/2 from Bryncheiniog Forest. Parked at the picnic site and walked over via Llaneglwys. Easy access via PROW. Sits on a hill amongst deep ferns, overlooking patchwork fields, but paths cut away for access. Pillar in good condition with spider, plug and FB intact.

2/2, prelude to Real Ale Ramble. Convoluted route from Mynydd Fforest on farm tracks and minor roads (key sections of track appear non existent on ground) to arrive at foot of pillar hill on track through very tidy Pant-y-Colly farm. Cold and clear giving full 360 sweep of distant horizons, Beacons national park, Eppynt, NE towards Glascwm and E to Begwns. Alot of bailed fern on flatter areas. Exit east crossing Sgithwen brook on lane which looked as if it was originally a very minor B-road complete with ancient tarmac and road signs green with age. Then descending to A470 at Trericket mill (16.05)

Parked about 500 metres from the end of the yellow road and followed a track north to gain height, then turned south west, lovely walk on a lovely day, last 1 after 2 fine days in the area.

Roadside parking (SO 0711 4096). Sheep trod traverses up the hillside from here. Several options for top of the hill, but only 1 trig. Another white paint job where FB has been painted over and spider not faring too much better. Original top cap retained. No notes taken.

The pillar stands on a grassy moorland hill to the south of Builth Wells. It is painted white and has FB S5536, its spider is plugged by a metal cap with shallow lettering and its base was exposed by a couple of inches in places. I parked off the edge of the minor road just after it entered the access land of the hillside to the east. I walked up the track to reach the ridge and followed the crest to reach the pillar. The trig has had no visits in two years then has two on the same day; I will put it down to a near miss. Some of the snow on the hillside had blown away since philpb’s visit a couple of hours ago, though I presume it was his footsteps I encountered in some of the remaining snow patches on the hill. To the north there was a view over a landscape of large rolling green hills. To the south the hills of the Brecon Beacons could be seen with a dusting of snow and with clouds swirling above.

Easy to locate and access. A nice trig to climb up to on a nice day. Visited while supporting walkers doing the Wye Valley.

This was planned as the bonus but the verges at my planned start for Llanbedr were too soft to risk and the rain too heavy. Instead I picked this up having parked at the cattle grid and followed the gentle ridge up to the top in very strong wind. Trig reasonably white and quite prominent
