Pillar must have stood near SE corner of reservoir compound, where public footpath intersects access road to Cropwell Wolds Farm. My guess (for what it’s worth) is that it was destroyed when the access track was widened & surfaced. Worth a few points for the view.

Cropwell Wolds pillar was about here

Up farm road towards Wolds Farm. Thought it might be in the reservoir compound. What a fabulous place for a trig point, sad that it’s not here anymore. Lovely views. Used OS seventh series 122 to locate. Point for views.

Not on my current Landranger 129 and it has definitely disappeared. The huge arable field and the track through it showed no sign whatever of a pillar and so I reckon the farmer has removed it. Can't think of any other explanation - probably in the way of modern agricultural machines....

The grid ref put the pillar 15 feet into a corn field. This had been harvested, but no pillar to be found. My OS map also shows no trig point at this location. Will revisit and have another look.

Location is in a ploughed field with no sign of a pillar - no hiding place for it here! Apparently its FB was S4687 and pillar was destroyed in 1983.
