Follow the path and don't deviate from it as the terrain is treacherous to the side of it (I came off it once, and once too many!). Do NOT follow the fence at the style as it suggests on OL1. Follow the faint path, it's a straight line to the trig. It would be extremely difficult in cloud or mist. About 15 minute hike from the style. Plug is missing. Base is eroding.

Enjoyed the stroll so much my mate, Tracker Dog, wanted to try the route and so we did. This trig was easy to find on a bearing but up and down nature of approach meant losing sight of it. Didn't bother to follow a return bearing back accurately to the path to Laddaw and missed it, such that once on it my mate turned to walk to Chew Res while I correctly strolled on to Laddaw. And this was in clear daylight, it would have been a mess in fog. Peat bogs all over, but I've been on the moors for quite a few years now and it seems to me they are a lot drier. Took inspiration from CURRYSCRIM and decided to do the three trigpoint challenge. Started from Crowden car park and walked up the Pennine Way then over on the path to Chew reservoir, at the highest point turned along the county border across the open moor. I could see the trigpoint from half a mile away. Blue sky, warm and hardly any wind. The ground was dry and I didnít even get mud on my boots. Would have been a much more difficult walk in wet conditions. Continued onto Holme Moss and Hey Edge.

No plug. Public. Access Land. Peak District National Park. Featherbed Moss is not so much a place, more a 'thing' - the soft springy turf that abounds on these high Peakland moors. Careful navigation coming up from Ogden Clough leads straight to the trig across the open & exposed moor. This must be one of the most lonely & isolated trigs in England, forming a rare landmark in an otherwise featureless landscape. It's an amazing feeling to be here, almost literally in the middle of nowhere.
