Good condition pillar with damaged top screed. Stands in a hedgerow at the SW corner of a crop field. Followed GRP's access suggestion and easy going underfoot if you stick to the field edge. Cap present with sunken lettering. FB faces north-ish with south and west-ish sightholes open. Spider intact despite damage to the screed. Nice views to the north and west.

NS516301, LR70. Visited to record FB number. HISTORY: Pillar completed 29th July 1947 costing £10.6s.0d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NS44/T35 in 1950. Levelled for height in 1961. Last maintained by the OS in August 1976. SITE VISIT: This pillar is still in good condition, but the surrounding ground is eroded away by livestock. This spider retains its original stamped font OS plug, the flush bracket faces north west. This trig lives two miles north east of the village Mauchline in an area once known as Cumnock & Doon Valley District, renamed to East Ayrshire in the Local Government reorganisation of 1996. The pillar stands at the edge of a grazing field where ground level is eroded by over 1 foot and no vegetation grows. Not to be recommended after a lengthy wet spell as the whole area will be a sea of mud. For access, follow the unmapped track by line of trees from the unclassified road from the north.
