Asphalt cap. The farmer was in yard on quad bike about to go on his rounds. He readily gave permission and pointed the way up west side of hedge line behind barns

Parked by the farm in front of the slurry tank and asked at the farm house. No problem and told me which gate to go through as well.

Mr Farmer showed me which gate to use, asked me to go anticlockwise into field (away from trig) to avoid disturbing a cow in small enclosure--she's got awfy bad feet.

Cap filled with seemingly repaired corners and edges (collars n cuffs ;-) In good order, sat on a two-step exposed base with only the SSW sight open. Nice 360 view, taking in the Firth and distant Arran out West. The Farmer and Hands were totally cool.. sheperding up the flock for their shots - poor Bah-bahs! One hand reminisced about a Trigger some years back intent on bagging the Country! ..Peregrin? Iain? best foot forward! :D

Hemphill ..Sun over Arran was too contrasty for photos! :D

Vgc pillar in hedgerow. Easy access from Hemphill farm. Farmer very helpful about best approach up through the field. Metalwork intact with concrete plug. FB faces north-east-ish. All sightholes are closed except south-west. Slight repair to the top. Not bad views from standing on the top of the pillar!

Spider filled. Stands on two visible concrete platforms of about 6" in height. Had to ford the Volga, which was in spate following the morning's torrential rain.
