Knocked at house and given permission, struggled to find it and then the couple came out and asked if we normally walk round peoples gardens, I reminded them I had asked not 5 minutes earlier but it seems lost on them, I showed them what we were looking for and they both say thats not here, we left and then went through the woods, its a bit scary as you are visible at times from the house, to be fair if you have that much garden you don't know you have a pillar you probably won't notice the odd couple sneaking around.

Nobody at home but car on drive and it looks like they have not been home for years What a shame to leave such a nice house and swimming pool ( They could give it to me ) A 7 for the House. Easy find to right on gap to back lawn

Despite warning about loose dogs, entered Highfield via cattle grid and rang doorbell to ask for permission. No response. To visit in this direction you would need to enter the back garden of the property. All curtains drawn as per previous log. Will return and go via the woods route.

Intended to ask at house (Highfield) but all curtains drawn, car on drive, gates open, so carefully walked round back of house, down wooden fence line to scrub and large lawn to find trig on raised earthwork. No dog but sign still on gatepost.

Walked up to the house and knocked. Looks like nobody has lived there for some time. Walked round house to find well maintained garden. Pillar in hedgeline behind rhododendrons and camilias.

On old hedgebank in garden of Highfields (large grey house), cloaked in ivy, in full view of house windows, W side of grassy trackway leading from lawn to large lawned woodland clearing. Sign at gate reads German Shepherd running free (no-one heard, canine or human). Got within 10m of it: plan to return via the front door for a proper look.

Access hasn't got any easier! Walked through the woodland like mickandshane, expecting to come across the pillar in the trees but, like they said, it's on a grassed clearing by someone's garden. Original plug with slightly-indented letters. All sightholes closed. Very slight traces of paint. No views at all from here due to the trees.

The fields here don't bear any relation to my 1997 Explorer map. There is a wood at the side of the A388 and I walked up through it looking for the trig. In the middle of the wood there is a lawned area and the trig is on the other side of this almost in somebody's back garden. I approached with care and wasn't spotted although some mutt was making a lot of racket. Photo, FB no and then back through the wood sharpish. Plug with heavily indented lettering.
