Parked at junction that leads to the mast compound. Initially a straight forward walk along the forestry track for a mile, then a difficult scramble though brash and young foliage up the hill to the TP. When finally reached TP discovered a much easier track to get down that could have well have been created by other TP visitors. When I reached the main track it came out at "spokes, triangles, clashes". To find this spot walk past the TP on the main path & before it bends to the left strike up the hill on the right. When I finally found the TP it was worth the effort as got some great views looking north. As S1534&Beyond mentioned I can foresee that in not the to distant future it will be very difficult to reach this TP

Route used from this site. .https://fabulousnorth.com/hopealone-trig-point/ I agree with Lorraine London that within a few years time it will be horrendously difficult to reach due to the trees that surround it on the summit opening. The comms tower looks like a space rocket! A difficult walk once you start the final ascent. Spider is missing.

Some great views northwards along to the Cheviots. The view will be lost once the trees mature. The trig point is presently visible from the forestry track but it is a bit of a slog over rough ground to get it. Once the trees grow this will be a difficult trig to bag until the area is deforested again!

Drove forest road to park at track junction ~120m NE of the mast compound (NY 7360 7186). Taking a direct route, the first ~250m easy, but after that an interesting exercise in finding the best way - lots of brash trails to follow, then immature conifers to push through - repeat and again a few times! Wasn't actually too difficult. But the return will be the way to go as the trees mature. Took a line NNE from NY 7403 7199 along an unplanted brash trail straight down the hill to hit the track at NY 7393 7219, easy peasy. The pillar has no centre cap or plug; LHD side sight hole open. Probably views N at the moment, although cloud down so not sure.

Recommend following the same route as A1 Mushroom describes below, up a faint clay path that goes uphill through the scrub directly behind the beacon. Head for a large clay mound that’s visible towards the top, and take a sharp left almost immediately after it through a fire break. The trig is just out of sight on the left. We found the drive through Caw Gap and up to the woods more enjoyable than the walk

Parked just past the (green) mast at the top of the T junc. Followed the forest track ESE past the gate and then approx 25m where a faint quad track / mud track can be found which winds its way up the hill next to a drainage ditch towards the trig. Just before the enclosure a fire break is found to the trig. In a few years this will be difficult to get to as some of the tree's are planted the customary 1m apart, and some are heavily self seeded.

My second visit, same route as before - line of least resistance up through the brash, new growth and drainage ditches. Horrible. There's a lot of new growth springing up around the TP, another couple years and this TP will be very hard to reach and may lose the views it has, which are extensive to the N.

We'd just bagged Round Top and decided we didn't have enough time to walk west to Spy Rigg as planned, but wanted to squeeze one more TP into the day if possible. Although Hopealone was clearly visible the drive to it along public roads looked a very lengthy and circuitous drive...however, the forest tracks, if open, would lead us almost directly to it. So we drove back past The Haining, turned W and continued to Grindon Green, SE to Hindleysteel and SW to just park up below the TP, clearly visible above the felled brash. Good views although it wasn't the clearest of days.
