Third pillar of the day, from Gummer's Howe. Parked on small lay by (B5278) to West of How Barrow. Followed the so called path (barely there!) through plantation (lots of prickly holly). Quite a steep climb but worth as the views over Morecambe Bay are stupendous! There is some sort of mobile mast next to the pillar. The trig is in very good condition although missing it's centre cap. Great little spot!

Perplexed on how people have got themselves into such a pickle reaching this pillar. From the B5278 I followed the public bridleway (room for two cars) on a wide track and through a gate. Follow the wall for 150 metres and go N across a field to ascend on a path and through some gorse. On car park duty earlier today at the JK2023 in Haverthwaite (day 3). On a bank holiday weekend there are always quite secluded parts of any national park to retreat to. Gifted to Haverthwaite and the South Lakes
