Parked in Ewelme, car park next to football pitch. Along road on foot for about a mile, south east then north east. At gap in hedge for footpath there’s enough room for a car to pull over so would have saved a bit of time. From there, uphill in northerly direction along hedge line between fields. Started off on north side of hedge as less exposed. Near top, pillar visible on south side of hedge. Enough gaps to get through. Stubble field. Good views. Broken a run of about twelve pillars with caps still in place. This one missing. Route back was fairly direct, across field then onto footpath, not as muddy as expected and approaching from this direction would bring pillar into view sooner.

Noumber 3 for today. Came across some cameramen taking pictures of the RAC 1000 Mile Trial for per-war cars. They had started in Edinburgh and i saw them going down the road close to TP4072 and Ewelme. Easy walk up edge of filed of wheat to get to TP. It is in good order and nice views over Oxfordshire countryside. Saw thew last car go by (number 41) when I got back to the road where I had left the bike.

Parked at parking spot to the S, then walked up the hill along the narrow field boundary, then straight across the field when perpendicular to the trig. Crops in field, I was very careful not to damage too much crop, the whole time I was repeating to myself "Tell anyone Tom says it's OK"! (See Rad's log 28 April 2006) Trig in good condition, centre cap missing, all 4 sightholes open, concrete base becoming exposed. I left a 2p coin in the front sighthole for the next visitor to find.

Parked at access to Chiltern Way Walk. Lots of paths being created here. Chatted Landrover driver there who said Landowner was the Grundon family who are big round here (into Waste/Recycling, lots of big waste trucks around this part of the country). They live at Ewelme Down Farm which is next farm down the road to the South west. He said he was their manager and it was fine with him. He said "Tell anyone Tom says it's okay". Trig just 20 yards in field from wide field boundary (which is driveable). Was careful not to damage too much crop.
