Parked by the field gate for what I thought was a quick up, over & out at GR 45221 37219...Climbing the gate proceeded uphill initially along the hedgerow to the right. Spent a considerable amount of time in search of this trig located in the middle of the field far removed from any wall or fence as depicted on the OS map!

No Radio, the cows were too interested in me. I walked up the lane to the gate then up to the trig. A bit muddy on a wet day.

Parking is a bit difficult but it is only short walk up the enclosed lane then over a metal gate and up a grass field to the trig. The trig is visible from the lane as you walk up. The trig is in good condition but covered with dry slurry at present.

Field gate at road to west and up through sheep field after also up soup and dessert lunch for a fiver with lots of locals in hall at Hutton just to North. They were all staying on after to play bingo while I had a trig to visit.

Reverse parked in lane at grid NY 450 376, walked up lane, saw Trig, gate access to field opposite it. .4 of a mile out and back. Crops had been cut.

Pillar in a field of grass reseeding,so a bit sticky. Not much to look apart from a mass trespass of transmission masts to the west.Didn't hang around as I'd left my wife in Unthank Art Gallery and cafe and I wasn't sure what she would buy if left unattended for much longer.

A storm prevented us from walking on the fells, so we embarked on a round of trig-bagging from Greystoke. Parked in the lane, walked up the field edge from the ROW and quickly nipped across two empty (no livestock or crops) fields to bag the trig. Pillar in good condition, views are good (not that we saw them through the rain).

Went into the wrong field via style and then had to climb through Hawthorne hedge and over barbed wire fence into recently ploughed and very muddy field to trig which had been sprayed with silage - had to clean flush bracket for picture!

Walked along track from road through one gate near road and the second gate into the field was open. The field is still corn stubble.

Parked at gated field entrance SSW of trig. Field boundaries then tractor tracks to pillar in middle of a maturing cereal crop - there is no longer a field boundary here as shown on OS 1:25k mapping. Top cap missing, asphalt plug; rear sight hole open. Good views E & W, also partially to N; S obscured.

Walked over the stile in adjacent field and photoed through hedge frisky bulls and cows barred access to risky am afraid we bottled it today.Could see flush with binos luckily trig looked in vgc

Took the footpath to the south, then clambered through a prickly hedge containing giant stinging nettles and a fence topped with barbed wire to reach the prize. Soon discovered that I could have climbed a farm gate and simply walked up the field with no obstructions! Pillar's cap is asphalt-filled with one sight-hole open.

Helps if you look in the right field! Eventually parked in gateway SW of pillar and up to the left of wheat filled field,following tractor lines past single tree.Pillar in good condition,slight chunk out of mid section corner,1 sight hole open and tarmac plug.good views restricted by trees.

Cumberland. The hedge line it was once in has now gone. It is now at the top of a large field, easily accessed from an open gateway onto lane to south west. Asphalt plug.

Spent some time looking in wrong field..looks nearer to the plantation on the map, must have been made with very red sand gives it a nice colour

We parked at the side of the road and took the footpath up to the top of the bank and turned right over a fence to get to the trig. Coming back we simply walked down the field and through an open gateway back to th car. Good view of Skelton Transmitter Station. Tarmac plug.

Cycled out with my wife that morning. Views dominated to W by mast forest. Still gloriously sunny. Good ride!
