The pillar is not far from road and it's just a matter of keeping a good lookout. Trig at this time of year is surrounded by a 'carpet' of bluebells. As far back as I can remember this area has been woodland and the pillar is hidden from view apart from rare periods of coppicing, I certainly never noticed it when I drove past here during my course of work in the 70s. My father must have passed by here over 12,000 times en route to and from his place of work every day.

Third time of asking !! Enlisted the help of my friend, TA Gaz. Now suspect my previous attempts failed because the track I'd taken my bearing from on the map wasn't the track I was actually standing on on the ground. Easiest way to find it is to stand in the entrance of the main car park then head into the wood on a bearing of 144. Not easy to spot the grey concrete pillar against the dark trees unless you are virtually next to it. A good challenge though as I don't go in for this GPS tomfoolery !!
