Parked in the car park for the race track. A lot of young cattle around the track leading up, as this was where the ring feeder was and they don't like moving to far from the food! They were quite jumpy so made my way past West Leathans along the track and walked around the field to bring me around to the west side of the hill. Followed the sheep tracks up to the trig from here.

There was a meeting on at the race-track, but this didn't cause me any hardship. Cut across the frozen hillside to reach the metalled road near the top, which was dangerously icy - kept to the grassy fringes. Pillar has its original cap in place with shallow lettering, and all 4 s/h's open. Splendid all round views. Then an exploration of the nearby long-closed railway: old bridge and extensive embankments.

Sunshine and threatening clouds meant there were great views of Ben Lomond, North Berwick and Bass rock and down to Tinto Hill views only ruined by the presence of the masts. Spoke to farmer on way up and was fine for access, also found bench mark on the old railway bridge. Amateur night at the race track below with plenty of tyre screaching.

Penalty for ignoring the huge "No Acce.." sign at the start of the track was no reply and a glare from the farmer as I walked right passed him. Goml type 2a. Cowardly sulker. Its a road walk, and if it were not for the sign, a drive up. Summit is a tumulus with a fine view of masts and the racing circuit. Turn round and you get a good view of the Ochils. Pillar intact and good condition. 2015 - still goml activity - got a lot of stick for using Fife Core Path 616 firstly for scaring sheep (nonsense) and then for deviating from said route in order to avoid real sheep. Be firm.

In 1947 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NT18/T41 in the Dunfermline secondary block. The flush bracket was levelled for height in 1965. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in September 1987. Location more famous for its racing circuit.
