Parked at the Flatt took the forest track to Watch Rig then found a way up through the new conifers. In few years time this will be not so easy.

A spacious parking area at The Loan. Walked the forest road then crossed southeast over the felled plantation. Walked NE along the fence line to a gate at corner. Pillar has moss growing up from its base. Spider plug intact. Wonderful panoramic views.

Second trig in a 19 mile round of 4 (albeit 2 were the Whitelyne Common pair). Parked at Crossgreens a mile N of Bewcastle and walked E 5 miles to Little Hen Hill, then retraced route back to White Preston, where we cut over not-too-tough terrain NW to Long Crag. Sunny spells and intermittent snow flurries, a great day to be out walking. Views from Long Crag are outstanding. Onwards from here NE along fenceline to Whitelyne, and the going gets considerably tougher...

Approached from the west, parking on verge at NY559784 (south of The Flatt). Walked up forest track (ignoring the private signs) then by compass bearing through the last bit of forest from bend in track. Carried on to Sighty Crag. Made return down Access Land back to car, there's a quad bike track a lot of the way. Clear still day with views across to a snowy Cross Fell and northern Lakes fells. Whole round trip only took 4hrs: mostly tussocky moorland and by keeping to the higher ground you can usually avoid the mires.

Long Crag and Whitelyne Common Parked bottom of the track near Caldslope and walked towards Crew cutting across field just before the trees, found a quad track which skirted round Crew Crag and took me right up next to Long Crag which was very helpful as visibility was poor due to low cloud, decided to go on to Sighty using compass headed NE following wall-fence over Stantling and on to Sighty,A magical island in a sea of heather mooreland with large boulders and firm ground this is a very remote quiet place with big skies the cloud had now lifted and the sun shone,Tranquillity personified well worth the effort my favourite Trig to date, returned by the same route taking in all the views missed due to the earlier cloud stopping of at Long Crag to get a better photo, elderly farmer from Crew enquired if I had had a good day he seemed pleased on been told one of the best.

We parked just after Bewcastle (no pub there now) and walked up the track from Crossgreens which is a permissive bridleway and not drivable. Took the wall line north just before White Preston and after a bit of bog arrived at the pillar which stands on a bit of a ridge. Good views. Plug with heavily indented lettering.
