Got severely glared at by lady in the house opposite the gate as we left the Trig field. Hooray for 'Right to Roam', that's what I say. Trigging in Scotland is SO much more fun than Trigging in England...

In a field at the foot of the Lammermuirs. The pillar itself is nothing to write home about, but the roads to get there are lovely and the nearby pillar on Lammer Law is best accessed from here.

Cows (& I think bull) & calf in field, along with sheep. Had to leave quickly to avoid approaching cattle.

Good condition pillar atop knoll. FB faces east-ish with all sightholes open (but no bolt visible). Decent views. Cap present with sunken lettering.

People moving cattle around at nearby farm, so seemed polite to ask permission to visit, although readily visible and accessible in empty grass field. No problem.

Third visit here, prevoiusly 1984 and 2003. Sitting waiting for a possible police visit - see 2004 report by fasgadh. Sheep were over in northeast end of field.

East Lothian. We met the farmer on the road and he just asked us to go quietly to the pillar as there were newborn calves in the field. Views of the Lammermuir Hills. Plug with indented lettering.

Climbed small hill to find trig virtually in farmers back garden. If you visit from further down the road away from the farmhouse you shouldn't have any problems.

Passed by on the way down from Lammer Law. On a small knoll and in good condition. Take care here. In 2006 I was reported to the police , who told me to stay clear of private land !!!! by the farmer. I was not at the trig which is close to the farm but 1/2 mile away looking over a gate for geograph.org.uk Best call at the farm for this one.

Longyester is an East Lothian hamlet approx 6 miles south of Haddington. Trig is in a grazing field easiest accessed from the west. Views to Lammer Law, Allermuir Hill, Skid Hill and North Berwick Law. Pillar in very good condition, spider retains original OS cap with shallow engraved font, flush bracket faces NE. Weather sunny, revisited 9/08/03, GRP.
