Drove to the end of the tarred road where there is a parking spot at its junction with the hill road. After reading about how wet the walk is across the top to the trig, we decided to be different and follow the marked track to the south of the hill. Now, bearing in mind that it’s October, it’s been raining solid for three weeks and the area is normally wet anyway, what could possibly go wrong. This was a soggy stumbling route through thigh high vegetation and over various deer fences. We eventually turned north, climbed the hill, climbed another deer fence and arrived at the pillar - soaked. After taking in the nearby Marilyn, the walk back using the normal route was a dawdle. With Nozzer.

Parked at NC 6710 1113. Followed the fenceline to the hill, then across to the trig. Pillar constructed without a FB; central cap retained, raised lettering. On the drive down estate worker politely requested me not to take the car up the track. With Carole Engel.

vgc, metal cap, wide raised letters. Built without FB. Unexciting summit, big desolate view. Also revisited the Marilyn summit, just to NNE. Obvious approach from SW: track then rough boggy grass, semi frozen. Friends asking permission to park at farm, were invited in for tea afterwards - so beware!

Three visits, last on New Years day 2000. Its not the highest top of the hill which is a knolly lump set in bogland. Fortunately the bogs were frozen. Have passed by backpacking around Ben Armine as well.. remote country and very satisfying. Latest visit on a summer evening. Wide views of the Sutherland star hills, Morven and the Moray coast. No flush bracket. Wind farmers about.. Anemometer mast nearby
