Time after many months to escape the city for a night, so what if the torrential rain turns to hail later... most of which we thankfully escape. Use the gate a little down the road to reach the paddy field for the fully immersive experience. First Scottish trig since Whitekirk Hill in Lothian back on 1st Oct 21, good to be back.

Parked up at the entrance to Nellsfield Farm and walked the 30 yards or so to the gap in the hedge where the pillar sits. Squeezed through the brambles and stepped down over the low wire fence to get a good look. Not very exciting, but I'll always take an easy roadside bag after some of the stinkers I've come across this year.

West side of road, west side of beech hedge. FB facing south... Much less hedge than seemed likely from others notes.. But did some more trimming. Glorious calm sunny day after wild stormy night of Arwen.

A roadside bag. Pillar is hidden on west side of hedgerow in field. Weather was miserable and the sheep grazing in the field looked thoroughly dejected. Spider top intact. This pillar will remain well protected for many years.

On my way to Holyhead to catch the ferry so though i would bag this road side trig on the way. Parked just at the gate for the same field the trig in. Can just get to the FB from the road side.

Pillar is fairly well ensconced within the hedgerow; it can just about be accessed from roadside, but better from the fieldside. An original centre cap is retained, deeply indented lettering; LHD sight hole open, RHD sight hole sealed, don't have a note of the other 2. Some views in an arc SE to N.

No sign of Sarah or any other comedians other than the two farmers in the opposite field discussing how many more days they needed to dig the ditch. Didn’t spot trig through hedge so over gate into field for my mud bath, mean while Mr TJR got stuck in a ridge at the side of the road and spun lots of mud up the side of the newly washed car and my kayak!

Once again on our long 500 mile journey north (yeah, let's hear it one more time for Charlie & Craig!) and made a short diversion for this humble trig, sheltered in its covering hedge: cap in place with deep lettering, and one sight-hole open. All was still and calm on this beautifully sombre grey & wintry scene. Then back on the road.

Good condition pillar standing roadside. Outside the field boundary but behind a hedge. FB faces south-ish with west-ish sighthole open only. Cap present with sunken lettering. Pretty much no views. Crawled in through the hedge to it.

Roadside pillar but the wrong side of a major hedge. Fortunately there was a convenient gate and the cattle were at the far end of the field to enable a dash to the pillar and safe return before they converged.
