Cracking spot for the pillar. Superb views in every direction. Only downside of visit was high winds that made it hard to stand up straight let alone take photos.

vgc, no cap or plug, Vanessa. Day trip c/o CalMac: Mullach Mor and a few minor summits, Orval, down its long S ridge then back via a couple of Barkeval outliers.

I'm sure this trig is worthy of a higher score than 5, but in dense cloud with zero vis, a 5 is all I can do. A long walk from Kinloch on a filthy day, but with some breaks in the cloud it made it worth it, and when the wind was too strong to attempt the more heady peaks on Rum, Orval was a good stand-in, and a trig to bag was a bonus.

Inverness-shire. Vanessa with plug missing. Absolutely superb location in fantastic weather. The views over the Rum Cuillin are excellent from here as are the views west to Canna and the Outer Hebrides.

A smooth granite hill to the west of the Cuillin. Worthy of a 12 if not an 11! The summit is like a carpet. Visited on a tour of Rum. The pillar is an intact Vanessa. Is it there now? given that the cylinders are falling fast on the mainland. (The island is called Rum, The Rh is an affectation of one of the prats that once owned the place, and has long been dropped by the OS. It is totally alien to Western Scotland.)

Orval Summit on a wonderful April day.
