Approached on footpaths from north. Was going to continue round to approach from the conventional direction but Twiggy was spooked by horses and we ended up only a few yards away on the other side of an easily crossable fence. Hopped over, quickly bagged it and continued on a two hour loop walk, pretty muddy.

Leaving Platts farm bunkhouse in Llanfaerfechan and after breakfast in Bethesda, set off south, diverting to Seion, where, parked on roadside, walked up lane from where the mound with the pillar is obvious from the sharp corner to the end house, up an open approachable bank. Rain had started to fall so didn't want to bother household.

I parked in Seion though road very narrow. Pen-Y-Graig house is being renovated, I asked owner who was working on house for permission to visit trig. In fact it belongs to his neighbour (with the wooden cabin), but he said neighbour would not mind.

Drove down lane to property and meet the new owner who was busy building a wooden cabin on the small hill near trig point. He was very friendly and took me up to the trig. The woodland on the hill has been cleared of brambles and dead trees creating an open space near the top plus opening up the views.

Roadside parking in Seion; RoW NW then struck across gorsey fields, over b/w stock fence and onto small wooded mound in what seemed to be the extended back garden of a private house 'Pen-y-graig' - trees provided reasonable cover. Pillar found in good condition on large square plinth; original cap in place, deeply indented lettering; RHD side sight hole open. Good views SE to peaks of Snowdonia nat. park.

Metal plug [indented letters]. Private - presumably Pen-y-graig, last & largest house in little hamlet of Seion. The wood, Coed Pen-y-graig, is unfenced & easily accessible from the approach track to the house. Then just strike up to the highest point [not far]. Woodland fairly sparse, & although passage requires care, trees & brambles offer no resistance.

This is my first pillar with a intact metal plug which I am well pleased with. Nice views towards the mountains and the trig on Moel y Ci.

Battle up through the wood (not too bad) and the trig is at the highest spot. Plug with heavily indented lettering.

In a wood on a small hill, accessed by a track through dense undergrowth. You have really got to look hard for this one! It's all intact including the plug which looks as if it has been recently re-riveted. There is quite a lot of paint on the north face but little on the others, especially the south. The only problem is that the flush bracket is very badly corroded and the last digit [which I am convinced was a 3] could possibly be an 8 and I would value a second opinion. Good views eastwards but all other directions blocked by woods.
