From the Hurworth Burn Reservoir car park, followed the PROW around reservoir to style in hedge, which is overgrown. First field , no path so around edge, 2nd field, no path but follow tractor lines, luckily next fields have been harvested making easier progress. Trig still well overgrown, exit down the field where there is a gap onto road and walk back - this trig is easier once crops have been harvested

Having bagged Embleton Old Hall I left the car in the Hurworth Burn Reservoir Car Park and walked along the road past the Luxury Pet Hotel and then off along the FP at the apex of the next bend. The FP to the left is over a style but the thorny hedging has grown over the top making it uncomfortable to pass over. Once through the farmer had not left any passage through the corn field so I walked around the edge, I didn't mind too much as I considered it payback for the numerous short trespasses I make over farmland. Once at the house there is still no evidence of the FP so I followed field edges to get to pillar. As mentioned before the pillar has been incorporated into a hide and it has been overrun by nettles and brambles. The FB is on the enclosed face, I could just get a photo but have lots of scratches and stings for my efforts. Took the same route back, by the "luxury" accommodation, two modern cabins on stilts with hot tubs. Probably where they host swinger parties. All in all a pretty horrible walk. Beer in the Black Bull at Trimdon afterwards.

The objective for today - drive from Alnwick to Coventry and bag one Trig Point in each county we pass through en-route. Planned a route to take in 14 Trigs in 14 different counties. This was #3 of 14 and quite a disappointment. Almost entirely buried in vegetation, most of which was stinging nettles. Visit made more 'interesting' by encountering a man along the ROW armed with a rifle out shooting crows and pigeons. He was a decent enough chap, but we didn't hang about as we were clearly disturbing his mornings work. No views from the TP in a pretty dull part of Co Durham, one for completists only.

From the Hurworth Burn Reservoir car park. A few hundred yards of road walking then along right of way to trig field and finally headed straight up the hill. Pity the pillar is barricaded in. However, there's a seat in there if you fancy a rest.
