(415) I rather unexpectedly had an hour or so to kill in Rothwell, so went and finally bagged this long overdue final Leeds trig location. I parked up on Royds Lane in the short lay-by a short distance from the ROW. It was then a 5 minute pitch-black plod across two claggy muddy fields to the trig pillar's former location. Couldn't speak to the views obviously, and the fog was bouncing off the headtorch beam so photos weren't much good either.

(1692) Parked on Royds Lane at the start of the PRoW. Straight enough walk to the pillars former location. Quite icy today so any standing water/mud in the field had frozen over somewhat, which was nice. Shame this one has gone. Pillar history: Built on the 16th of November 1937, cost and last maintained by the OS date not listed in the archive. FB was S1903. Reported destroyed July 1952.

Log 50, I made it! I had planned West Nab to celebrate the half century, but with companions at work I decided to go for a nearby solo invisible. Dedication you see, as ever. Royds Green as we know the trig has long gone, but it gave decent enough views of familiar sights - West Nab itself, Black Hill, Emley Moor, Woolley Edge, Ferrybridge, Garforth Cliff, Leeds Centre, Ilkley Moor...a clear day. Trig would have been SW of the diagonal path through the field, thought I saw an area where it may have been where the crop seemed less happy to grow, but I wasn't going to thrash through Farmer Biggies crop today. The 50 is satisfaction enough.

Easy access along a well-marked footpath with open views - nothing there. Not marked on any of the OS maps that I've checked. OS Huddersfield Sheet 102 One-Inch 1954 edition marks this site as "Opencast Mining" so that was probably what did for it.

Not here
Not here either. Theres a nearby metal conduit cover with concrete surround which I checked for rivetty things but nothing.
