With Jill. Parked by Hightown with permission. Up via track to White Hill, then Hightown Hill + Trig then back down track. Walked along road to bag Barrs Hill next before crossing track to bag Bruntshields Hill followed by Back Hill then onto Shaw's Hill + Trig before descending down to the Crochmade Road. Headed towards the road before climbing Hempland Hill. Then walked back along the road to Hightown in 4 hours.

Nice walk up from Tinwald along the lovely Crochmade Road to the point a track heads off at a gate to the trig. Then headed to the true summit further NE. Added the Tump of Back Hill to the N then back to Crochmade Road to Tinwald

The midden looked like it would hold my weight. I was wrong. Looked like there was a small craggy tarn nearby but also wrong, it held the ubiquitous metal farm rubbish.

Misty and already pretty dusky. Looked like some trees through the pea soup, near the top, which I'd not expected. Then all the trees moved and I realised it was a group of black cows and they were hiding the trig too. As I walked towards them some of the crunchy ground gave way by about 15-20cm and I realised I was walking through a small Quagmire mixture of mud and manure... Very thankful that I was wearing wellies. After I'd sprayed the FB with mould release oil and pressed my air dry clay into it, when I peeled it off I realised that it was mud spattered and so my moulding was very mucky too.

Parked on the Crochmade Rd (NY 0287 8123). Started up the hill after 725m. Big cattle pasture, lot of cattle, feisty but manageable. Plinth exposed, likely some ground erosion; original centre cap retained, deeply indented lettering; all sight holes open. Extensive panoramic views.
