Parking and route as per clochandighter. Rough ground meant 1mph walking speed. Original cap still present. Excellent view. Continued to Shalloch On Minnoch.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 8th June 1954 costing £44.12s.0d. Computed as tertiary station NX29/T23 in 1955. Levelled for height value at pillar top also in 1955. Last maintained by the OS in October 1985. SITE VISIT: Parked just off SE side of unclassified road at NX406954. Started southeasterly on mapped path, obvious route then fades once in open hills. Circuituous route continuing to Shalloch On Minnoch. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Built without flush bracket. Spider leg perpendicular to a pillar edge points 46° (NE). Vented through NE sight hole. 360° panoramic view.

Slight cracking to pillar surface. Built without FB. Metal cap, deep letters. On nice rock outcrop. Bagged en route to Shalloch on Minnoch, from N, Ballochbeatties.

No FB, spider intact, pillar solid. Accessible from road to north. Rough, but great viewpoint. Dewey Summit a few metres SW. Apologies for the poor photography, but it was impossible to stand up at the trig owing to the fierce wind - pictures were taken lying down, hence fuzziness (and boots). GPS kept blowing off trig too, so reading might be out a bit.
