Second & last outing to complete the Shrewsbury (Wem, Shawbury & Baschurch) 241 OS map. As on Friday gone, another eight trig 'assault', Shrawardine reservoir, Grinshill Cliff, Webscott, Petton Park, Cockshutt, Ellesmere Point, Paddolgreen & Alkington Grange. For Shrawardine Reservoir parked alongside the telephone box 'housing' the defibrillator at GR 39996 15243 & following the road East 'took' an obvious left up the embankment. For Grinshill Cliff parked on-road afacing the Drawwell & Jubilee Street signs at GR 51452 24108 & 'taking' a left at the church proceeded uphill along the bridleway to enter the woods up onto the trig & cliff edge. For Webscott parked off-road in a dirt pull-in at GR 47496 23207 & 'taking' a left into the woods followed paths up onto the embanked-trig. For Petton Park parked just off-road alongside the Petton information board at GR 44119 26195 & short road walking West, crossed the road to access the PROW. At GR 44112 25789 'jumped' a gate to cross the field diagonally & locate the trig. For Cockshutt parked off-road aside the bus stop at GR 43425 29250 & road-walked the busy, non-pavemented A528 to 'take' a left into the access road of Crossmere Farm. 'Ran' into James a most pleasant chappy who after relief that I wasn't an official someone or other, gladly granted me access to the trig...Had to laugh, it was the map case he mistook for something clipboardish. Following the bridleway for some time, confronted by a decision to go left or right, it's thro' the right-hand gate that 'takes' you to the re-located trig. For Ellesmere Point Parked on-road by the 92 metre spot height on the OS map, pulled-in close to the side on something of a dirt pull-in aside the stile at GR 40716 35532. Crossing the stile followed the path alongside the mere, passing the wooden Sshhh sculpture & 'took' a left to proceed along a narrow & exceptionally muddy ROW. Went thro' a blue arrow-marked kissing gate to proceed upwards onto the trig. For Paddolgreen please see entry under that heading. For Alkington Grange parked off-road at the fanned-out area of the burial ground at GR 52020 38333 & road walking East located the trig aback of the hedge roadside, a rough hedge scramble in followed by a closer to ground somewhat easier hedge-slither out. To be honest think I just like taking-on these rough approaches since I think the stile at burial ground parking would have given access. Out at 05:30 & back home post a 183 mile 'round trip' from Salford, Manchester at 14:15. Fraught with few problems but a nonetheless tough, eight & three quarter hour outing. Quite a lot of narrow, rutted & pot-holed lanes to contend with but thankfully little in the way of central reservationed grass to worry the exhaust! An abundance of mud was a feature today & indeed has been of late but little to worry a 'trigger' wearing his welly-bobs. Next stop Oswestry (Chirk, Waun, Ellesmere & Pant) 240 OS map.

Originally just put hazards on and hoped to grab sign post and haul myself up, I did this but the sign post was not in the ground so I quickly fell backwards! So I then parked further up the road in a field entrance opposite house and nipped round the back, over the fence and up to the trigpoint. As others have said some frost damage to the top.
