It is certainly in well worn condition with various cracks and chips. Centre cap also missing. But all told a nice one to start the day on. Pillar history: Build date and cost not retained in the records unfortunately. Presumably built around the late 1940s given its computing date. Last maintained by the OS in April of 1978.

Nice hill though the trees around the trig compromise the view. Convenient car park. Plug replaced with metal insert.

Looking for a Sunday afternoon family bag then this is the one for you. Easy car parking, playground, gardens and the rather bizarre Hemlock Stone used since Celtic times for various purposes including lighting beacons on top. It is just a shame that a little more respect has not been paid to the trig. There appears to be a plastic plug in it which is new to me.

Plug missing and attempts to glamourise this trig by painting it pale yellow have been somewhat overtaken by local graffitists. However general location excellent, with nearby car park, gardens, druid stone, playground etc - a trig for all the family!!
