Parked on the road to the south of the pillar. Climbed over a gate at SP 55551 60691. Walked the hedge line and then went through an open gate into the next field. Then walked up to the summit of 'Big Hill'. Then needed to climb over a wooden fence topped with barbed wire into the trig field. The pillar is right next to that wooden fence

Landranger 152 names this location as Big Hill. No obvious route to top. Pulled over on minor road half way between A361 and Staverton. Bit of a scramble through hedge and over fence then followed field boundary uphill. Cows in pasture at top of field to east under trees. Over double barbed wire fence at top of field then continued uphill and headed north west through grassy field of mostly buttercups at the time. At top of hill good all round views. No sign of pillar. Headed west to hedge boundary and gate into next field. Pillar visible on west side of hedge just south of the gate. Good views to west. Spider and cap in place. On way down cows had moved slightly west but were still far enough away not to cause any bother.

We parked roadside near the gat for the short walk to the pillar with good views over the rolling hills. The pillar is in generally good condition and retains all the original metalwork.

I have had a look at this one several times, today I asked at the house immediately below the pillar for permission, only to be told the land belonged to the farm down the road, I went along to High Cross Farm and spoke to a farm worker, permission was granted, although he was initially a tad anti. He then went on to explain where it was located. I parked opposite the farm entrance on the opposite side of the road and walked up from there, through two fields of cattle, Pillar is located just to the west of a hedge, easy to get to as there is a horse jump in the hedge, good condition, nice hill and good views. Along to "Big Hill" next-door after.

Coming from Staverton parked in a gateway just before the buildings on the right with the three large silos. Walked up the hill over a collection of gates then continued diagonally up to the left to join the hedge near it's high point, the pillar is on the other side of the hedge with an easy climb over a wooden jump.

I took the same route as Father Ted (Shane decided it was a good time to read the Sunday paper). There's a gate just to the west of Staverton Fields Farm which has a track leading up the east flank of the hill. A notice on the gate said I was being watched but I found this hard to believe. You can contour around the flank of the hill keeping out of view of Badby Lodge Farm. There were a few cows near the trig having a bit of a mid-afternoon kip. Pleasant views, plug with indented lettering.
