Outstanding week of calm, sunny weather. Drove up the B-road through Rowen, dear me, what a mistake, 2 gates to open and nearly took the bottom off the car. Then circular walk from top car park at end of tarmac, setting off following boundary wall as it ascended. Many footprints in soft patches from the runners in the Dragons Back race which had passed through yesterday. Pillar has no FB, it looks like it might have originally but only cement now.

On my way to meet a chum and spend a few days having adventures...weather permitting. I have been here before from the YHA, however decided to follow the DBR route from Conwy and fudge the return. A much better route to the pillar (who was attracting a few families walking the ridge). Gifting to Pensioners Special £7.95 in the best chippie in Kendal. The silver hair, we all display, determines that we qualify.

from car park roman road past standing stones follow wall path hop over wall near top of foel lwyd using protruding stones back to path down to bwlch and up tp Tal y Fan using path south of wall, no views fog and frozen ground but with Manon, Darcie and James so bril back down to bwlch using path to north of wall which is stronger then re return using path south to road pillar rebuilt

Pillar in really good condition but obviously rebuilt minus FB and spider. Great views and can only send my respect for whoever rebuilt this trig, thanks. Do we need a rebuilt option? Agree with the comments copied from jonglew Sept 15 below - Not sure why it's marked as damaged. It's a 2007 rebuild, but cannot see any damage, unless that refers to the original, in which case it should be 'destroyed'. However, I've marked it as 'good'. Pillar is stone-built, has no FB or spider, although interestingly there is a spider-shaped impression in top cement screed.

At last the clouds lifted off the Carneddau enabling us to have a clear view late in the day.Rebuilt pillar very large stunning views in the last of the light quickly back down in the fading light.

Parked on grass verge near Cae Coch. Followed footpath from lane over several wall to reach the summit of the path before turn right up a rough path to the trig point. It was a very windy day so didn't stay too long at the top.

Visitors to damaged trigs (who happen to be carrying some cement with them), take note, great to see a restored trig complete with spider imprint and restoration date. Fine walk from the Sychnant pass then up from the beautiful standing stones - ravens, skylarks and the year's first wheatears.

On a wet and breezy day with low cloud. On a round of Nuttalls, this being the first of 6 with only 2 trigs on the route! Not sure why it's marked as damaged. It's a 2007 rebuild, but cannot see any damage, unless that refers to the original, in which case it should be 'destroyed'. Howerver, I've marked it as 'good'. This walk was dedicated to my late uncle whom I coerced into accompanying me up here one day in 2005. I had a strong drink in his memory and then descended down to Rowen youth hostel.

Part of a 5 mile round from car park at end of road, was going to go opposite direction towards Foel-Fras and Carnedd Llewellyn but was thick cloud so decided to go for smaller hills, over Foel-Lwyd to Tal Y Fan.

Rebuilt stone pillar, with newly restored top [some height seems to have been lost], but still lacking all metalwork [including FB]. Public. Access Land. Snowdonia National Park. Stands above Roman road from Rowen to Aber. Ridge reached by public footpath from near Cae Coch Farm. Northernmost ground in Wales to reach 2000 ft.

Newly and solidly rebuilt from local stone. Flush bracket and spider marked out, but not in place. Very windy and wet, no views. Can echo Stonestreaker's comments about driving up these narrow gated lanes - gripping stuff!!

Walked up from Rowen and back via differant route(about 7 miles). Very good views from the top. Flush bracket was missing as was "spider". The brass hooks on top also missing. Evidence of rather poor repair work to the top of the trig with cement and small stones. Pillar is constructed of local stone blocks.

Last of four tops as I take advantage of a meeting in Bangor to bag the remotest Welsh 2000's. The repointing is now several years old and holding up well. If walking from the south the car park is obvious but the post way in is from the Southern access via Llanbedr y Cennin, no gates but watch out for locals reversing blind onto the road from their driveways

This 2000 footer was tackled from Roewen.The pillar had no spider or plate and at the time I did not realise it was a trigpoint.Nice views from summit

The stone-built pillar shows signs of having been repaired over the years but is still missing its spider and FB. Climbed in sunshine but the top was in mist so hard to give it any more than a 5 today. The tops cleared later making it a great day for a circular walk around to Drum etc.

really cold wet day- epic drive up from rowen in a transit - gated road NOT recommended for anything wider or longer than a micra! Great selection of standing stones and circles around about - Trigs and stones HEAVEN! must have been an important site as the romans tramped their road right through. oh yes the trig... its topless fbless but still standing

Stunning scenery on an unusally clear day (for these parts anyway!). As previouslly mentioned the top is compleatly smashed, but the stones appeared to be placed back. The FB is just a recess (if it had one)

A steep, little sting in the tale at the end of a traverse of the Carneddau on the Cambrian Way but with the sun out it's a beautiful evening to be on the hills. Down to Rowen YH.
