Make sure you access via the easily-missed path, hidden amongst tall gorse, by going through the gate at: (57°08.154' N, 4°41.581' W // http://w3w.co/wacky.sizes.announced // http://maps.google.com/maps?q=57.13590,-04.69302 // NH 372 083) The path broadens and the gorse calms down a bit after about 100m, and will take you all the way to the top without any problems. Otherwise prepare to scramble through a lot of undergrowth.

I only did 4 of the Great Glen Project pillars today and this was the 4th. Parked at end of loch but didn't realise that there was a good path to the TP if I followed the track round to the left. instead I went right and up to join a bit of a shoulder to the TP. This was was a battle through the dying bracken and the far more alive gorse. OUCh. Interesting surroundings with metal cross and good views.,

It looked easy on the map, but we parked on the A82 by a gate at the end of a loch, and climbed up from there. I wouldnt recommend it, ferns, thorns and wet feet. But it was worth it for the view. Superb

My third trigpoint of the 'day'. I planned my route from a map and definitely got it all wrong. Parked at NH 372 075 and followed the arrow on my GPS. Fought my way through bracken that was 6ft high to begin with then I hit the gorse bushes with no obvious route through. There may have been but with a head torch only and bracken taller than me I could not find it. Eventually hit a path and it was easy from there. I decided to follow the obvious path down, heading north when I needed to go east. If you plan to walk here I would recommend parking at NH 37233 08256 then walking to start of the path at NH 37125 08218

Made a bit of a hash of this one. Staying at the caravan site in Fort Augustus and walked from there via the golf course. Wasn't sure about a track through the gate so continued further south before finding a path that doubled back up the hillside. Took the path back northwards which wended back down the hillside to the gate next to the golf course. GPS said .85 miles from the campsite but there and back finished up doing 4.25 miles.

Path not at first obvious but wends thru' gorse bushes and becomes distinct. Short wooden crosses mark the route which leads to final large cross on summit (inscription illegible)

Parked up just off the A82 nearby and walked up to the golf course entrance. There is a good path to follow alongside the edge of the golf course for a good while and then just a straightline up the hill once in line with the trig. Bit of a slog through the dead bracken to get to the heather covered hillside and I was glad I was doing this one at this time of year rather than when the bracken grows up. The pillar was soon in view though but wasn't expecting to see the stone structure and wooden crosses up here though! What a fantastic view from this one for such a small hill.

Oh how I wish I'd found the path from the beginning! I parked at the golf club (permission readily given) and set out SW along the track. Instead of turning left through the first gate (a route was not obvious from outside the fence) I continued on along the track until the track passed into the fenced area again. Here I turned back on myself and tried to pick my way up through the undergrowth. I happened upon a path - of sorts - which took me through some recently burnt heather and gorse bushes. Not a particularly pleasant experience! Towards the summit I simply walked up through the heather until I happened upon what was apparently the 'correct' path just below the summit. Ah well, it was worth it. The view up Loch Ness is superb and the mountains to the SW are also very pretty. A large wooden cross stands a few metres from the pillar, as does a ruined building with another wooden cross inside. The pillar itself is a standard Hotine and has all sightholes open. The top has a tarmac plug. FB details to follow... There is a subtle difference with this pillar, however. Thanks to its part in the Great Glen Project it has a symbol of two embossed triangles and a cut cross on one of the arms of the tribrach. I spend a good long while at the top, during which time I had some lunch and was joined by a lady from Fort Augustus who had decided to visit the hilltop every week for a year to take a photograph over the town and Loch Ness - the pillar's spider provided the perfect base for her travel tripod! I descended at 4:50pm back along the more obvious path from the top which - despite a couple of steep bits and a little bit of gorse - would have been much less painful and arduous than the route I took! Photos to follow...
