About a kilometre west of Linlithgow, turn north up a lane off the main road, past a couple of houses, then lane becomes a track and goes uphill. At the top of the track, over a gate and headed west for a couple of hundred metres through a field of gazing sheep, some of them were quietly sheltering from the sun under the hedges until being disturbed. Pillar is in the corner of the field on the other side of the barbed wire fence but FB faces into the north field, so easier to photograph from that side. Raised S prefix. Not visible from the track. Fairly good views, a bit forlorn. Constant traffic noise from the nearby motorway.

Cap missing but asphalt plug present. Decent views to neighbouring pillars.

The flush bracket was levelled for height to Class 1 precision, tertiary standards in 1964. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in May 1984. SITE VISIT: Pillar stands in the northwest corner of an arable field just over one mile west of Linlithgow. Easiest accessed via adjacent grazing fields to west and north. Column in good condition. Spider cnetre plugged with coarse bitumen. BsM flush bracket faces north straight into fence. View to Cocklerue Hill (Cockleroy).
