Boggy walk from cattle grid to the north.Easiest route takes you into field to west of trig,but the wall has useful steps in it making access easy. Good views of Wards Stone and Wolfhall Crag to the south,whilst Ingleborough was prominent to the north.

Parked to NW, plodged south to gate through wall then east to trig across broken north-south wall. A good viewpoint across to the Yorkshire Dales.

From the parking area by the cattle grid to the east, followed a quad track across reedy area to trig which is situated in an area of rough pasture the trig is in good condition with an original cap two open sight holes Good views

On a sunny day with skylarks singing, this may be a nice spot as a viewpoint for Ingleborough etc. But this was December and it was very boggy and the light was fading and did I mention it was very boggy. I was accompanied by my friend Ian who is an authority on inhospitable places in the Forest of Bowland, so at least he was in his element.

HISTORY: Pillar completed April 1949 costing £14.9s.6d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station SD47/T58 in 1950. Levelled for height in 1953. Last maintained by the OS, 4th October 2000. SITE VISIT: Boggy ground on bleak top. Column in good condition. Spider retains Original OS centre cap with shallow engraved letters. Flush bracket faces 341° (NNW). Vented through SE sight hole. 360° panoramic view from top made up for immediate surroundings.

Parked at cattle grid took the short stroll over the wet pasture to the trig. There would be a very nice view across to the three peaks but this was unfortunately partly ruined by the haze. Curlews calling & a couple of Geese flying overhead made it a pleasant last trig of the day.
