3rd visit to take Grid Ref reading, slightly different route. Parked at Threecock Plantation crossroads and walked up the track about 1/2 mile and took signed ROW WNW across Weetwood Moor to SCW, then S to the radio mast (?) and then E to the pillar, all along well defined but extremely wet paths. No noticable changes here since last visit 4 years ago. ~~ 17/08/20 2nd visit, different route. Drove W from Chatton to crossroads at Threecock Plantation and continued W to a gate where the road becomes a bridal path that leads directly to the TP. Low cloud covered most of the neighbouring hills, although Dod Law was bathed in late evening sunshine.

Day 12 of 14 Annan to Berwick Walk. This pillar is that good I want to keep it a secret. Day 12 was the only rest day on this hike and we chose to stay in wonderful Wooler for 2 days. A good choice to rest - it was red hot. Good tracks out of Wooler lead to this pillar which is fully accessible through a gate. If I ever get a chance again to take a girl to a pillar for a picnic I would take her here. Peace, solitude and the most beautiful views of the Cheviot Hills and Northumberland. It's just perfect as a place, it's why I walk and why I am a trigbagger. As for the Annan to Berwick Walk, this was the last of 5 new pillars. We made it to Berwick and that's 25 years I have been long distance walking now. And I pray to continue as long as I can.

Ample parking for 3 vehicles at the end of the access road to the mast. Headed up the lane and followed the track to the trig, with easy access to the trig field via a pedestrian gate. Stunning views across to the Cheviots from the trig. Decided to make a circular walk out of it and headed on along the track and onto Weetwood Moor, where there was an absolutely stunning display of heather, then walked a short section of the St Cuthbert's Way before looping back to the mast car park.

Drove up the track from Wooler that passes by the football and cricket pitches to a small car park where another track comes down from the odd shaped radio mast (it looks like someone started to build a space rocket but gave up). Followed a green lane SE past Coldmartin Loughs and a plantation of silver birch trees to a junction of 4 tracks and a footpath, turned half left then half left again to follow another green lane up to a right turn where the TP is very obvious beyond a barbed wire fence, however there is a kissing gate through the fence allowing access to the TP. A path not shown on the OS Explorer heads W from the TP to another gate and then meanders down to the compound around the radio mast, before dropping back down to the car park. A pleasant and undemanding stroll, worth repeating on a clearer day to take full advantage of the decent views from the TP.
