Interesting one this....the pillar is definitely not there but the bolt doesn't look much like a pillar bolt. Looks more like a bolt or a surface block. There is a broad arrow on the block which would imply it's definitely OS furniture. Same coordinates as the pillar, however. Notwithstanding, the windmill is lovely even in the fog with good views across the countryside. Easy splodge up the wet ROW from the nearby parking.

The windmill is the main feature of this location. There are decent views all around except NE. I can make out some of the churches in Leamington and Warwick and I think I can see Coventry on the horrizon. The surface block is about 3m W of the windmill. It is certainly not a decapitated piller. Looking at the old photo on this place I don't think it is on the site of the piller as the surface block seems to be further away than the piller was.

Haven't been here since I was knee-high to a duck, so the pillar was probably here at that time! What is left looks suspiciously similar to a surface block. The windmill is great, though, and by now the skies were blue and there were spectacular views over Warwickshire. Incidentally, I think a 'Birmingham Post' photographer must live near here because whenever they haven't any news to fill up their spaces, they print a picture of this windmill!

This turns out to be the renovated Chesterton windmill originally constructed in 1632 and worth a visit in its own right. It is in the middle of a field but with easy public access and places to park. There is no sign of a trig point pillar though. There is however a bolt in a concrete slab about one meter square just in front of the windmill. I am guessing that this was either incorrectly entered in the database as a pillar or the pillar was at one stage removed, may be during the renovation of the windmill, and replaces with the bolt. Or the bolt has nothing to do with the OS. I think I favour the mistakeingly entered in the database theory myself though having said that all other bolts I have seen have been housed in a much smaller concrete base. My GPS reading for the bolt was SP 34859 59361.
