Parked in Chalton village and walked up. Trig in garden of Windmill Hill. Not visible from frontage of property and large private property signs. On reading other posts I walked around perimeter fence and eventually saw trig - home owner had erected 2 lines of fence, green mesh and a hedge -do high I could even wave my selfie stick over it to take a photo. Trig glimpsed through fences!

Was hesitantly granted access via house and garden but did not want this publicized. However, not secure so if no one in, could wander round to trig. Go to left of house, past swimming pool keeping close to house. Trig is thru' the gate in front of you. Also very close to boundary fence.

Parking at junction Charlton Lane and A3, walked up to hill summit. 'Charlton Windmill' converted to private residence with bungalow attached; top of the hill fenced off as the garden. Pillar located at N corner of garden, new(ish) fence so not possible to view pillar without access to garden. Some slight chipping to top edges otherwise good; original cap in place, raised lettering; all sight holes now beneath ground level.

Wedding anniversary trig #1. Failed to find this on my last attempt in the early 1990s: this time better prepared with larger scale map, GPS and logs from here, so easily found behind the house as others have stated. Sadly a right mizzle so absolutely no views, but trig in vgc complete with cap. Walked up from Chalton whence we returned to retire to the Red Lion ...

I'm writing this in Aug 2018 having just dug out some old maps and found notes on a few trigs I did 20+ years ago before I even realised this site existed! I have no memory of this trig which is odd given its location but the yellow highlighted trig on the 1994 Landranger is ticked and there's blue highlighter indicating route completed, so it was done. I'm estimating the date as being in the early Summer of 1997, when I clearly did a lot of trigging, mainly recorded in my (sadly lost) little blue book!
