Recommend you follow the paths from the south of the hillfort to reach the summit & the trig point which is also located on the ridge facing the south. The best route to take is shown in 21qazxsw photo. I have also done a YouTube video documenting this trig & how to locate. I'm logging this a week after our visit and using the notes Lisa used to record dates, times and info, under info she as written F**K OFF T**T, I can only assume this refers to me, we parked South of the pillar and got within 200 meters of the trig when Lisa decided she did not fancy the steep climb to the pillar, at this stage we spilt up and she went in search of a steadier path, after 5 minutes at the pillar I made my way back down to the main path and headed to the car, I waited and waited and waited, eventually a phone call had me driving down the road to Wareham forest caravan park where a a strange woman had turned up lost and confused lol.

Parked at the car park to the SSW of the trig, then walked along the path up to the summit (see route attached). Once at the summit, there was a small narrow path to the left that led to the trig. Trig was in good condition, centre tube filled with asphalt, rear sighthole open, all other sightholes closed. I left a 2p coin in the rear sighthole for the next visitor to find. The spider was stamped with "JRW 2017" and the flush bracket was stamped with "JOHN ROY WARD 1963 4 2017" & a ladybird. Is he on T:UK? I'm guessing that this was his 4th trig pillar of 2017?

I love Iron Age Forts and this, my first visit to Woolsbarrow, was enhanced by a singing yellowhammer who was perched atop the pillar as I approached. I waited for a full five minutes enjoying the performance before it eventually flew off. This is a very small fort of just over two acres with a single bank and ditch, with fine all round views across the brilliantly purple heather - I noted Charborough Tower to the north.
