Bit battered, odd little pillar, someone has made an effort to dig the flush bracket out. I've not seen one like this before, it's more like a mini trig pillar. Drive by bag, you can park right by it.

Took a detour from a hike that finished at 10.4 miles. The hike started at Errwood Reservoir. I circled to the trig point at Shining Tor from where I could see the Cat & Fiddle. It was disappointing to see the FBM partly buried and damaged but there is another BM on the wall of the Cat & Fiddle bearing the mark GS602. This former well known meeting place is now the countries highest whisky distillery.

Revisit as was driving past after having visited the Axe Edge pillar. Was very alarmed to see that there were a lot of works going on in the area in which the FBM is situated. Got out to check that all was well with the FBM and fortunately, it is still there and is just outside the area being worked on. Went inside the pub and one of the employee's told me that there were some electrical works being carried out

re-visit. Still surviving by former pub. Used to be protected by two baulks of timber, but now surrounded by a few rocks. FB partly buried and gouges in top. This was England's 2nd highest pub at 515m. There are plans to re-open and build a gin distillery. Surprised to find an open shop, largely an off licence, but as advertised outside, hot drinks. Trying to keep outside at all times when out and about, but succumbed and got a very good coffee and bag of Kettle crisps to go with my packed lunch, eaten opposite while enjoying the view.

Hey diddle diddle. It was dusk when I got to the pub, but located the flush bracket easily on the pub wall and the FBM. Good news everybody, the Cat and Fiddle is scheduled to reopen and will be a whiskey distillery plus. Lots of work going on at the moment. Myself I am going to clear all the rubble away that people are complaining about here. I gift this trig to today, it was probably the last day in a long time that a few of us went scrambling on Chrome and Parkhouse Hills. It was a cracking good day in good company.

What a shit the way this trig has been treated. On a walk round the reservoirs nearby and come down from the brilliant trig on Shining Tor to find this FBM in a sorry position: are the blocks around it to protect it or the cars that might bump into it? Visit the FBM in Stanley Park, Liverpool, or the one at Broomhead Moor on N of Sheffield and they are protected by a railing with the respect they deserve. Any ideas anyone? I'll give my support, better a group action as opposed to a lone voice. Sooner rather than later before it vanishes.

I spoke to the Landlord he said cone kept blowing away, and then people keep driving into it! so a "cairn" seems to of done the trick - I carefully removed the rock, took my images and re-covered it. Protected by a traffic cone to stop vehicles driving into it. The flush bracket is partly buried so I didn't excavate it as it so cold with an icy wind chill. Locted on the Macclesfield side of the CAT & Fiddle PH.

This is on the left hand side of the pub. As all of the other photies show, this is marked by a large traffic cone held down by rocks, so it was rather difficult to read the FB. Lovely views as the sun was shining - last time we were here, it was a total white-out.

Just a note to say that, as I was passing by on the way to the Macclesfield game, there is much building work going on here and the FBM was completely surrounded by huge red plastic cones!!

It is protected by a traffic cone. Or is that to stop cars/people damaging themselves?

Very easy to find in the car park, which is a great place to park before visiting the Cheshire/Staffordshire/Derbyshire border area. The pub also serves Old Tom, a fine ale.

Right in the middle of the disabled carpark of 'The Cat and Fiddle' - you could easily fall over it! Quite a Health and Safety issue, really! A few chips have come out of it. Excellent views, especially westwards. Incidentally, the pub is open all day.....

Our first FBM! We must have walked right past it so many times before as it's in the overspill carpark of the Cat and Fiddle pub. FB was underground when we arrived, but a bit of digging revealed the all-important number!
