I'd tried, and failed, to spot this back in July 2023 but an appointment at the RVI Eye Clinic today gave me another opportunity and this time I got it. The error of margin as to where to stand outside the RVI is just a few centimetres either way, I'm tempted to paint a big 'X' on the spot to help future Trig 'Spotters'. Long lens camera would have been useful too...

After the gloom of trudging along Wades Military Road yesterday, I decided to finish the HWP at Newcastle train station (started at Carlisle train station). Following previous advice, I went to the 7th floor of the multistorey car park for a perfect view of the station on the Bedson building. Visited 4 in Newcastle and offered to the people who made the HWP possible.

NCAS installed 3 Mar 2009, replacing previous Newcastle active NEWC which was installed 2 Jan 2000 and destroyed 3 Mar 2009, location unknown. Located on the Bedson Building; a bit tricky to spot, RVI parking area at road level provides a glimpse, despite a massive mobile medical walk-in trailer being at an awkward spot. From previous logs the multi-storey car park gives a better view, likely from where I was parked on the 7th floor... should have read all the logs before visiting! Standard Leica A20 dome.

Followed Analoguesat's comments below. Couldn't see it, stood next to the salt bin and boom there it was.

Couldnt see it from the road as the trees were blocking the view. However if you go and stand next to the salt bin at the entrance to the new wing of the RVI across the road its easy to see.

Missed this one yesterday so returned today, but couldn't spot it from ground level. Followed Ted's lead, and jogged up to the top of the Children's Hospital car park where it can be easily seen. Then off to St James Park for my first visit: NUFC 3-0 Saints, sitting in the highest away-end in the land. Whenever there was a lull in the game, there was a great view to be had of the city despite the 'fog on the Tyne' rolling in. Pity that my team didn't turn up, but an otherwise enjoyable few days in Newcastle.

The active station is where the OS says it is, on the roof of the Bedson building. The dome is just visible at ground level from across the road but a much better view is obtained by sneaking up to the top level of the hospital's multi-storey car park.

Nothing to be seen from ground level. As I was attending a course in the Herschel Building, I took a shot of the roof from the staircase at the NW end of Herschel - nothing visible that I can see.

Walked around the building from near and far but couldn't see any signs of anything. I'm guessing whatever is there is in the centre of the roof and you need far more height than is available from ground level - it was Sunday today so I was unable to ask anyone regarding it's prescence. If one of the Newky Uni students falls onto this website maybe they can view it from one of the taller adjacent buildings and fill us in.

Newcastle University Department of Geomatics (Survey) had various antennas on the roof of the Bedson Building in 1999, One of these joined the OS active station network (OS Net) in 2000. This active station shares the same location as passive station TP25816 Bedson.
