Grinlow Tower, known locally as Solomons Temple sits on the summit of Grin Low, one of three 'Ethels' that I bagged yesterday in the Buxton area. For this one I parked near the Poole's Cavern visitor centre for the short walk through the woods. Good panoramic views from the summit. The large domed rivet is clearly visible on the floor at the top of the tower, next to the rails. Three smaller witness rivets can be found in the turrets.

My parents used to have a caravan in the 60s somewhere round here that they came to at weekends in the summer – everything seems to have been smartened up since then and I can’t remember the tower. The tower was surrounded by a school party who were taking turns to climb the top so I had to wait about twenty minutes before I could view the bolt. Continued onto the active station Buxton.
