The very lonely, isolated Crookdale Valley with no habitants living here bar the farm at Crookdale Bridge. Saw several herds of deer, couple of frogs and completed the Crookdale Horseshoe. I approached from the SE and on the E side of the wall. Crossed at the fence/wall junction and came back on myself for a very short distance. Couldn't miss it. I have to give this to Wetherspoons who have given a phase for women to use at the bar if uncomfortable or harassed, "Is Angela working tonight"? An excellent step forward to protect females.

What a gem...deceptively long way from the layby on the A6 but well worth it. We basically followed the fence line and cut a couple of corners off (ish). The views today were stunning, all the way down to the power station at Heysham, the Howgills, Cross Fell and the SE lake land fells. The snow was much deeper here than Seat Robert and the trig was a little difficult to find!. Had noted GPS position on map from previous logs and it wasn't there! So we did the old fashioned pacing with the help of mickandshanes information. Anyway it was very enjoyable 'digging' in the snow and as a bonus we saw 3 Red deer. The logged grid reference is correct.

We parked in a layby on the A6 at NY554063 and followed the fenceline to the trig. A bit up and down but not as boggy as I expected. We made the mistake of carrying on to Lawyer's Brow which is slightly higher than Great Yarlside. Doubling back to the summit (marked by a very small cairn), the ring is about 40m ESE and about 10m west of the wall. Good views.
