Walked up from the farm at Ravenseat (NY 8627 0329). Easy spot on NW side of fence angle; grass encroaching over much of the ring; tidied it up and cleared out rubbish from middle. Rod marker instead of the usual large bolt.

New fence erected and the large limestone boulder had been carefully placed over the ring. I had to use two old fence posts to lever it up and a two legged push to shift it. If it had been deliberately placed to protect the ring then I'm sorry I didn't have the strength to replace it. Otherwise a wet-underfoot walk which ever way you approach it.

Also called Robert's Seat. Whoever Robert was, he certainly preferred his ring trigs - Seat Robert near Swindale also has one! There's a difference though, this one has only a pin in the middle, the other has a large bolt head.

We do like these concrete rings! and have visited all six on the website. I hope some more are found because they are always on good summits. Much better a ring in the hills than a pillar stick in a hedge next to an industrial site (that's Shanes opinion and I tend to agree - although we'll still keep visiting the pillars of course). We parked at Tan Hill and the ring was exactly located as described in previous logs - behind the fence where it turns a corner. On the way back Shane and Jim bullied me into walking back to the car and picking them up as they waited at the bend in the road at Mould Gill (where we should have parked anyway). We still had time for a couple of pints at Tan Hill Inn before driving back to Halifax, after a successful few days in the Lakes.
