(2762) Hampton Close for parking then a short slighly muddy walk to the trig. My first extant Fenomark so that's something. Extra point awarded for that.

Easily found but as i was viewing a tremendous whooshing sound started a bloke on an electric mountain bike was coming along the path at at least 30 mph. he missed me but went into some steel cables supporting a telegraph pole nearby and cartwheeled over them damaging himself and his bike. luckily he was not badly injured but his bike was very lucky lad. The Fenomark is now very exposed the soil beneath it all eroded away and the centre bolt is loose.Interesting views to the mainly class 66 loco HQ for UK servicing. A few hardcore trainspotters here had a chat they even have there own little makeshift bar.

Following the cycleway alongside the Erewash Canal and heading for the Nutbrook Trail. Last minute decision to turn aside and re-visit as another warm sunny day. On summit of grassy trail. A rarity as only 12 Fenomarks listed on website, and only one other of these has been found.

Approached on my bike using the same route as THE CYCLIST. Spent a while trying to find it but it should have been easy. Just go to the highest point (Doh!). Made my exit through the mud bath that was the route to Bardills Garden Centre.

After three pillar re-visits this was my aim for the day and a new tick. Approached from the North off B5010 by railway bridge in Sandiacre. Road through industrial area and under A52. Two signed bridleways; fork left and climb rough grassy trail leading directly to Fenomark. All rideable. Lots of folk about enjoying the sunshine. A must for the rail enthusiast, looking out over Toton Motive Power Depot. Exclusively classes 60 and 66, but in a variety of liveries, on the depot. Across the running tracks a long line of decaying stored/withdrawn class 60s. Two more pillars in the area I could have re-visited, but didn't make the effort.

I was sure what I was looking for so I wandered up and down on a number of different levels before deciding to read previous logs and discovered that I nearly tripped over the thing in my ramblings and didn't notice it. It's small than I was expecting. I think I was thinking it was a shorter FBM rather than a dinky pillar. Good views of the railway sidings (if you like that kind of thing).

Had more trouble than expected – thought it was down on the track level not on a higher path. Lots of mud on the paths – cut up by horse riders. Also had difficulty finding a close parking area – would suggest parking below a play area at SK4906735193. Note that there is no access down Epsom Road try all the way down Banks Road to prevent getting lost in the estate. Easy trigpoint if travelling on the M1.

Easily found - right in the middle of the footpath overlooking Toton Sidings and Traction Maintenance Depot. Top of mark well polished by passing dog walkers and trainspotters.
