From Deadman Gill Bridge, good parking. Ground has the potential to very boggy, all rendered firm today after recent low temps. Exposed in short grass, it would benefit from some spade work to clear away encroaching grass. 3" dia slightly conical bolt at centre of the 3 concrete arms.

Came across this by accident on the website. What a wonderful huge thing it is. Another stormy day heightening the North Pennine immensity. Wonderful spot, on into Co. Durham after for a more conventional trig.

Given an 8/10 owing to the rarity of these. Fifth of six different species of trigs today, introducing non-trig friend to the world of trig-spotting. So he got to see an active station, a rivet, an FBM, a (very special) pillar; a curry stool and a concrete ring.

Approached from SW via soggy track. Cloud arrived at top just before I did and cleared soon after I left. Good views from lower down. The Curry Stool was clear of vegetation; bolt on central raised area. The Andy Goldsworthy sculptures in the sheepfold next to Deadman Gill bridge were more interesting.

Curry Stool - the first Ive seen: concrete <spider> with arms c.1m long and centre stud. At SW summit, the concrete clear of grass. Fine view. My old LR91 has a spot height here (562m) although current mapping credits the NE summit (563m). First (re)found by Trevor & Sue Littlewood in 2006, using 10-fig GR provided by Richard Short at the OS, via Jon Rouse.
