First Lake District walk since the Covid lockdown, to bag some Wainwrights and see if our legs still worked. Glenridding - Birks - St Sundays - Grisedale Tarn - Seat Sandal and the long walk back to Glenridding along Grisedale. Low cloud till afternoon, when the sun came out and the views appeared.

This is OS Station No NY11/T9 - for some reason it's not shown in the header info at top of this page. Large 2 3/8" bolt in rock at NE side of cairn, not sure if I saw this on my first visit to Birks in 2009, but wasn't doing trigs then. Only returned for the bolt, although not far off the track for St Sunday Crag.

This was very hard work for such an innocuous hill. The weather was hot and sunny with no breeze going up. Once on the ridge it got a little cooler. Came up from Patterdale. Bolt still uncovered and in good condition.

By E edge of cairn, easy to spot. Circuit of Deepdale bagging Birketts and Synges. Straightforward descent ESE to Wall End, parking at Bridgend. OS trigname is Bridgend; was originally user-added to TUK as "Birks" which is the summit name.
